Annie says "Happy Thanksgiving"

Annie has been here for two weeks, it's like she has been her all of her retired life. She is happy, waggy, in the middle of the pack kind of girl. She remains somewhat shy, but is getting better every day. She has excellent house manners, sleeps well (especially fond of human beds), eats great, an all around lovely lady.

Her wish for all is a Happy and safe Thanksgiving, her wish for herself is to have her own home by Christmas. She knows the perfect home is waiting for her, and is waiting patiently.

My husband and I were living in PA in 2002 and had visited one of the local fairs where there was a booth promoting greyhound adoption. It was our first encounter with a greyhound and our lives were changed forever. We were astounded by how calm and sweet they were. We had been thinking about adopting a dog, but we then knew that greyhounds were the breed for us. We adopted two almost immediately (on the same day). We adopted a big, gentle fawn boy (Smoke) and an inquisitive, outgoing brindle girl (Hollywood). When John's job required him to transfer locations, they made the move with us to TN in 2004. Those two hounds brought more joy into our lives than can be put into words. The memories we made with them are countless and they are forever in our hearts.

We lost Smoke last year in September, and Hollywood this past October, and wanted to do something to honor the memory of them both. They both had a wonderful retirement and we know they would have wanted to provide a dog like Annie with the same opportunity to find her forever home.

We adopted Manny (aka Misprint Manny) last year through GPA Nashville and he has brought us so much joy and laughter. We see glimpses of both Smoke and Hollywood in his personality along with so many new traits that are all his own.

We are sure that Manny, too, would want Miss Annie to be happy.

Little Annie

What a tiny sweet girl she is, and a bit shy. Annie has been here for 6 days and is settling in nicely, she eats well, sleeps in late if her human does, likes the bed and furniture, and ingores little furry critters. She has had some change in her personality since arriving, she is happy, bouncy, and getting a little demanding (in such a cute way). She had been in a home for almost two years, but after her greyhound buddies went to the bridge, it was apparent she missed them and needed one or more greyhounds for companionship.

She is a gentle soul, but has a nice mind of her own.

Oh, and did I say she is tiny (yes, I did), weighing in at 52 pounds.

Annie would do well in a quiet home with at least one more hound. Probably not the best dog for a home with small children, allot of noise, or high traffic.
